Fast and easy for new students
It’s quicker and easier than ever before. The online application only prompts you to answer the questions which apply in your circumstances. If you need to update your contact details, view your payment information, or change your bank details you can do it all online by logging in to your account.
Even easier for returning students
Applying online is especially easy in the second or subsequent year of your course - all the relevant information from your previous year's application is carried over, even if you applied on paper - you will hardly need to enter any information at all.
Your sponsors can supply their information online
If you complete an online application and nominate a sponsor (i.e. your parent(s) or your partner), they will be sent a letter detailing how they can provide this information online.
The iPod offer applies to New and Returning students only, however if your sponsors provide their information online, they will be automatically entered into a prize draw where they can win £200 Holiday Vouchers!
Competition Terms and Conditions
- This Competition (“Competition”) is operated by Student Loans Company Limited ("SLC") under the authority of the Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills and his Department. SLC is wholly owned by the UK Government and operates within the policy context set by the Government and the legislative framework. Its registered office is at 21 St Thomas Street. Bristol, BS1 6JS.
- The prize draw is open to all individuals who submit an online Student Loan Application (“Application”) through the Student Finance Direct website between the period starting 12 March 08 and ending midnight 30 September 08 (UK time).
- Submitting the Application shall be deemed an unconditional acceptance by you of these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). Thereafter the Terms shall be binding on you in this Competition
- Entry is free.
- Only one entry per person is permitted. Multiple entries will be disqualified.
- Winners will be notified by text to the mobile number they provide in their application. A reminder text will be issued after seven days if there is no response from the winner. If the winner still does not respond the prize will be reallocated and a new winner will be selected.
- Fortnightly Prize Draws (“Prize Draws”) will take place on:

- At each Prize Draw there will be one ‘First Prize’ winner and one ‘Runner Up Prize’ winner drawn at random. Only the winners will be contacted personally.
- The decision of SLC’s judges is final and conclusive in all circumstances and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The First Prize is a 80GB iPod classic and the Runner Up Prize is a 4Gb iPod Nano. SLC may, in its sole discretion, substitute a reasonable alternative for the Prize at any time.
- No cash alternative is open to the winner.
- The name and county of the Competition winners, will be released if individuals write into SLC within 28 days’ of the conclusion of the competition with an SAE
- SLC has arranged this Competition in good faith and accepts no responsibility for any defects, including but not limited to those affecting operation or function, of the Prize.
- SLC does not accept any liability for any Prize which is lost, delayed or damaged in the post or otherwise not validly received by you.
- You have made certain representations to SLC in submitting the Application. SLC has relied on the accuracy and truth of such representations. Should SLC or its agents become aware of any fraud, deceit, omission or similar action undertaken in connection with the Application (in SLC’s opinion, which shall be final), SLC reserves the right to forfeit your place on the Competition (without giving any reason and without notice).
- Incomplete Applications will be void (in SLC’s absolute discretion).
- Late entries will not be accepted (in SLC’s discretion).
- SLC shall be entitled, in its absolute discretion, to cancel the Competition with immediate effect by stating the same on the relevant website without any liability in respect thereof.
- SLC shall not be liable to perform any of its obligations under the competition or in respect of the Prize where it is unable to do so as a result of circumstances beyond its control and shall not be liable to compensate you in such circumstances.
- These Terms represent the entire agreement between the parties relating to the Competition or the Prize (unless otherwise expressly confirmed in writing by SLC). The invalidity, illegality, or unenforceability of the whole or part of a Term or Condition does not affect or impair the continuation in force of the remainder of the Terms.
- The failure to exercise or delay in exercising a right or remedy provided hereunder or by law does not constitute a waiver of the right or remedy or waiver of other rights or remedies.
- These Terms are not intended to nor shall create any rights, entitlements, claims or benefits enforceable by any person that is not a party to them. Accordingly no person shall derive any benefit or have any right, entitlement or claim in relation to this Agreement by virtue of the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
- These Terms and Conditions are governed and will be interpreted in accordance with the English Courts. The English Courts shall have the non-exclusive jurisdiction to settle any claim or dispute which might arise out of, or in connection with, these Terms and Conditions.
- The Competition is not open to employees of SLC or any immediate relative of any employee.
