Student Finance Direct is required to adhere to the Data Protection Act, which prevents us from discussing your Student Support with any other party without your stated authority. However many people find it useful to occasionally have another person, e.g. a parent or representative from your college, to call us on your behalf for information or to act on your behalf to release or update information relating to their account.
Consent to Share
Consent to Share (CtS) is written or verbal authorisation which allows us to provide account information, with the exception of your bank details, to a third party you have nominated. The CtS person must satisfy our authentication process before any information can be released: they will be required to provide full name, full address (including post code), date of birth, their relationship to you and password.
Please write, quoting your Student Support number or ART ID, to the address below providing the full name, address, date of birth and relationship to you, of the person you wish to represent you, giving a password for them to use should they contact us. You should also state the specific time period that this arrangement will be valid for.

Power of Attorney
A Power of Attorney (PoA) is an official document where you can grant attorney to a third party to release or update information relating to your account. A PoA must contain the specific period for which they can act as an attorney and the specific tasks that they can perform. As above, the person holding PoA must satisfy authentication process.
